OLU Of Warri, His Majesty, Ogiame, Ikenwoli has inaugurated a 31-member Olu-in-Council to support the monarch’s promotion of the common good of the Itsekiri nation.
Ogiame, who lamented the seeming drop in educational pursuit among Itsekiri youths, charged the new Olu-in-Council to come up with ways to resolve this challenge and similar problems in Iwere.
“There is need to identify what is responsible for the current low level of educational and human capacity development in Iwere land, resulting in almost zero participation of our people in career civil service, diplomatic service, the armed forces, etc’’ , he said.
‘’On the issue of development, you are all aware that many of our communities are largely deserted due mainly to lack of basic amenities and infrastructures that would have attracted and kept them there.
‘’Council must now come up with a contrite 5-10 years development plan and work very closely with the Chevron RDC, our representatives at DESOPADEC, NDDC, Ministry of Niger Delta, Federal Ministry of Works, Delta State government and indeed all other development agencies that can help our cause as a people’’.
